Prof Ian F Bitterlin
Ian is a UK Chartered Engineer with more than 50 years’ experience working in engineering, with 28 years’ experience in data-centre power and cooling that followed 22 years in rotating electrical machines and variable-speed drives. Now principal consultant at Critical Facilities Consulting, Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds for data-centre engineering, CTO at Prism Power Ltd & Technical Expert at HKA. A leading expert in the field of "high performance data centers”, and often “lectures” on the issues facing the IT Industry from an engineering perspective and is knowledgable on the technical solutions that may play a large part in resolving them. An active blogger, author of technical papers on critical power and cooling with presentations and keynote speeches made around the world. Ian is a Fellow of the IET, Member of CIBSE & BCS, sits on data-centre committees and international standards bodies, a member of the Data Centre Council of techUK, Chair of the DCSG of the BCS and Chair of the TWG in EMEA for The Green Grid. Ian was awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Data Centre Industry’ at Data Centres Europe 2009.
